What happens when visual art runs into and runs riot with ADHD? What are the fireworks and frictions that arise? What are the ways forward, together? This video is a recording of a conversation between artist Dr Kai Syng Tan and Professor of Psychiatry Philip Asherson, both of the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre, King's College London. Here, they chat about their collaborative project, We sat on a mat and had a chat and made maps! #MagicCarpet, a 1.5 year multifaceted project which includes a large tapestry art, which they are sitting on. The interview is directed, conceptualised and filmed by curator Alessandra Cianetti, who is also #MagicCarpet's Production Manager. The music you can hear comes from a piece entitled Mind In The Cave by Stuart Westerby, who has created the piece as a contribution to #MagicCarpet (see right). The film premiered at Be There at the Start, an Unlimited event, at the Attenborough Arts Centre in Leicester, during a panel discussion on cross-sectorial collaboration chaired by Dr Cecilia Wee, Head of Artist Development at Artsadmin.

Stuart Westerby’s composition on his mind wandering:
'My mind wanders quiet often', says Stuart. 'On my walk to station this AM i was thinking of marcus (slease) and how cool it would be to live like him in Madrid. I daydream about the need to travel and discover new places and be creative in other environments, and when I daydream I go to Los Angeles...New York'.
